Construction Site Security Cameras for Kane Constructions in Belmore
Monitored video alarms, CCTV, timelapse and nurse call systems installed for the Bulldogs Centre of Excellence at Belmore Oval.
PROJECT SNAPSHOT
Kane Constructions Site Security Installation in Belmore
Thompson Bros supplied an integrated construction site security, CCTV, timelapse and WHS monitoring solution for Kane Constructions during the development of the Bulldogs Centre of Excellence at Belmore Oval.
The project involves construction of a new dedicated training facility with a gym, training and meeting rooms, lecture theatre, lap pool and locker rooms, together with modifications to the spectator area known as The Hill.
Because the works sit beside active fields and spectator areas, the security solution needed to address theft, property damage and unauthorised public access while also giving the builder reliable project visibility and monitored safety systems.

A HIGH-PROFILE BELMORE PROJECT REQUIRING ACTIVE SITE SECURITY
Thompson Bros was engaged by Kane Constructions to protect the Bulldogs Centre of Excellence project at Belmore Oval.
The new facility includes a gym, training and meeting rooms, lecture theatre, lap pool and locker rooms, along with modifications to the spectator area known as The Hill.
The construction site is directly adjacent to fields and public spectator areas, creating a higher risk of unauthorised access as well as theft or damage to tools, equipment and building materials.
Kane Constructions had previously engaged Thompson Bros on other projects and selected the company again based on its service reputation, responsiveness, ability to provide multiple complementary systems and competitive pricing.
SITE RISK PROFILE
Why Construction Site Security Was Critical in Belmore
The Bulldogs Centre of Excellence site combined valuable construction equipment and materials with an unusually accessible public setting.
Works were being carried out beside sporting fields and spectator areas, increasing the risk of members of the public entering the construction zone outside approved access points.
That meant the security system needed to do more than record incidents after the event. It needed to detect and verify unauthorised entry quickly enough for monitored events to be escalated for police response.
The site required active, monitored intrusion detection because public access around the adjoining fields and spectator areas increased the likelihood of after-hours entry.
Tools and Site Equipment
Tools, equipment and temporary construction assets required protection from after-hours theft or damage.
New Construction
Unauthorised access created a risk of damage to completed work, internal finishes and newly installed services.
Confirmed Intrusions
The monitored system needed to verify intruders quickly so police could be called before theft or damage occurred.
Site Shed Compound
The site shed compound and its entrance were protected by the four-camera MotionViewer video alarm system.
Public Access Nearby
The project sits beside active fields and spectator areas, increasing the chance of unauthorised members of the public entering the works.
Opposing Timelapse Positions
Two timelapse systems were installed on opposite sides of the new construction to document progress across the site.
SITE CHALLENGE
High-Level Timelapse Installations Around an Active Sporting Precinct
The Bulldogs Centre of Excellence required two very different timelapse installations positioned on opposite sides of the new construction.
For the oval view, Thompson Bros used an existing light pole and installed the timelapse camera approximately 18 metres above ground. An EWP was required for the installation, and the camera was paired with a solar power system positioned around three metres above ground to maintain safe passage around the pole.
The second timelapse camera was installed in the main grandstand on a six-metre collapsible pole. Thompson Bros custom-fabricated brackets that clamped onto existing balustrade components, allowing the pole to be mounted securely without relying on a standard off-the-shelf solution. Power for this system was sourced from an existing GPO.
Remote CCTV access was also provided to Kane Constructions, while the nurse call and MotionViewer systems were remotely monitored.
18m Light-Pole Installation
One timelapse camera required EWP access for installation approximately 18 metres up an existing oval light pole.
Custom Grandstand Brackets
Custom-fabricated brackets were designed to clamp onto existing balustrade components and support a six-metre collapsible pole.
Solar Timelapse Power
The oval timelapse system used solar power, with the solar equipment mounted about three metres above ground for safe passage.
Remote Client Access
Kane Constructions was provided with remote CCTV access for improved visibility of the construction site.
Two Different Power Sources
The oval timelapse used solar power while the grandstand timelapse was powered from an existing GPO.
The installation had to combine monitored security with reliable project documentation while working around existing sporting infrastructure, public-access areas and challenging high-level camera positions.
THE SOLUTION
Monitored Video Alarms, CCTV, Timelapse and Nurse Call Systems
Thompson Bros designed and installed an integrated system covering after-hours security, remote site visibility, construction progress documentation and WHS monitoring.
The complete installation included:

- Verified intrusion detection
- Professionally monitored security
- After-hours site protection
- Police escalation for confirmed intrusions
Four-Camera CCTV System
A four-camera CCTV system provided broader visibility across the project, with remote access supplied to Kane Constructions so authorised personnel could check the site without attending in person.
- Live and recorded footage
- Remote client viewing
- Improved site oversight
- Four-camera coverage
Two Timelapse Camera Systems
Two timelapse cameras documented the project from opposite sides of the new construction. The oval camera was mounted approximately 18 metres up an existing light pole using EWP access and operated from solar power. The grandstand camera was installed on a six-metre collapsible pole using custom-fabricated balustrade brackets, with power sourced from an existing GPO.
- Solar and mains-powered operation
- Opposing project viewpoints

7-Station Nurse Call System
A seven-station nurse call system supported WHS monitoring and emergency communication across the construction site. The system was remotely monitored, providing another layer of support for site safety procedures.
- WHS monitoring support
- Seven call locations
- Remote monitoring
- Faster emergency notification
Remote Monitoring and Access
Kane Constructions received remote access to the CCTV system, while Thompson Bros arranged remote monitoring for the MotionViewer video alarm and nurse call systems. This gave the project both day-to-day visibility and active after-hours response capability.

THE RESULT
Ten Confirmed Intrusions With No Reported Theft or Damage
In the first two weeks of monitoring in November 2025, police were called to the site on eight occasions following confirmed intrusions.
The rapid police response meant there was no reported theft or property damage during those incidents. Although no arrests were made onsite, the response had a clear deterrent effect and the repeated intrusions stopped.
Only two further confirmed intrusions were reported after that initial period — one in February and one in July — with police called on both occasions and no arrests, theft or damage reported.
10
Confirmed intrusions escalated to police
Eight police call-outs occurred in the first two weeks of monitoring. After the rapid response established a visible deterrent, confirmed intrusions dropped sharply, with only two further incidents reported in the following months.
Across all confirmed incidents, there was no reported theft or property damage.
No Security-Related Delays or Additional Costs
With the assistance of rapid police response, the project recorded no theft or property damage arising from the confirmed intrusions.
As a result, Kane Constructions did not report construction delays or additional costs associated with replacing stolen equipment, repairing damage or recovering from those security incidents.
For a major construction project, preventing disruption to the programme can be as important as the immediate value of the assets protected.
Intrusions Verified
Monitored video allowed unauthorised entries to be confirmed before escalation.
Police Dispatched
Police were called on ten occasions for confirmed intrusions, including eight in the first two weeks.
Losses Prevented
No theft, property damage, security-related delays or additional construction costs were reported.
Rapid Response Created a Deterrent
After eight confirmed intrusions in the first two weeks, the frequency of incidents fell dramatically, with only two further confirmed intrusions reported in the following months.

PROJECT VISIBILITY FOR BUILDER AND CLIENT
Timelapse Footage Supporting Progress Reporting and Client Engagement
The Bulldogs Centre of Excellence is a high-profile sporting development at Belmore Oval.
Thompson Bros’ two timelapse systems give Kane Constructions a visual record of the facility taking shape from opposite sides of the construction.
Importantly, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs were also provided with access to the timelapse portal. This gave the client direct visibility of project progress and helped support a positive working relationship between builder and client.
The result is a system that supports security and monitoring during construction while also creating valuable project-progress content for stakeholder communications and future project showcases.
